Overview
Tarleton State began offering the Bachelor of Applied Arts & Science with a major in Kinesiology in Fall 2020. The distinguishing characteristic of applied degrees is that academic credit can be awarded for ‘Prior Learning Activities’. This is generally referred to as prior learning credit (PLC). In order to qualify for an applied degree program, a student must have a minimum of 12 hours of acceptable PLC in the form of workforce education courses (WECM) or documentable technical training that is related to the degree field. The BAAS degree in Kinesiology will provide an avenue for students to complete a 4-year college degree who have WECM or documented technical training in a Kinesiology, Sport, Allied Health, or other closely related fields. Work-related examples include: public safety (police, fire, EMS, etc.), parks & recreation, military service, allied health technicians (PT, OT, LVN, Rx), etc.
