RELLIS offers Application Waiver at Transfer Fair
BRYAN, Texas — The RELLIS Academic Alliance is set to host a virtual Transfer Fair on March 3 for students interested in attending classes on campus this fall.
The fair will allow prospective students to explore current bachelor’s degree programs, learn more about available student services and view a virtual tour of the RELLIS Academic Complex. Transfer Fair attendees will also be eligible to receive one application fee waiver to the regional university partner of their choice.
“The Transfer Fair really allows us to connect with potential students and help them determine if RELLIS is the best fit for them,” said Admissions Coordinator Dalton Jones. “With so many exciting things happening on campus, from new academic programs to a growing student community, meeting this way allows us to really demonstrate everything we have to offer.”
Currently, ten Texas A&M System regional universities and Stephen F. Austin State University offer a combined 25 bachelor’s degree programs in subjects ranging from criminal justice, social work and public administration to biology, health sciences, and computer science.
Earlier this year, Academic Alliance Staff and faculty welcomed students to the newly opened, second Texas A&M System academic building. The 48,000 square-foot-building includes classrooms and laboratories incorporating state-of-the-art teaching and technology, as well as faculty offices and spaces for student collaboration. Most notably, the $28 million building provided the needed space for engineering labs and classrooms to facilitate upcoming academic engineering programs, a Learning Resource Center, and an auditorium.
“With dedicated areas for welcoming students and fostering relationships, we know this building will continue to allow students to find a home within RELLIS while they pursue one of our highly competitive programs,” said DaNeetra Walker, Manager of Enrollment Services. “We are excited to meet the next group of prospective students at the Transfer Fair and share with them what RELLIS is all about.”
Students participating in the Transfer Fair and applying to the regional university of their choice via ApplyTexas on the day of the Transfer Fair will qualify for the application fee waiver.

Texas A&M University System Opens RELLIS Academic Complex
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas —RELLIS Academic Alliance staff and faculty will welcome students on Tuesday to the newly opened second Texas A&M System academic building on the 2,000-acre RELLIS Campus in Bryan, Texas.
“The completion of the second phase of Texas A&M System’s academic buildings at RELLIS strengthens the programs currently offered and opens the door for exciting and innovative new opportunities,” said John Sharp, Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System. “I look forward to seeing the RELLIS Campus continue to grow and serve the surrounding Brazos Valley region and beyond.”
The 48,000 square-foot-building includes classrooms and laboratories incorporating state-of-the-art teaching and technology, as well as faculty offices and spaces for student collaboration. Most notably, the $28 million building provides the needed space for engineering labs and classrooms to facilitate upcoming academic engineering programs, a Learning Resource Center and an auditorium.
“The opening of our second academic building marks a great moment for all of us,” said Dr. Nancy Shankle, Provost of the RELLIS Academic Alliance. “The facilities provide more opportunities for students to learn in state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories and learning resource spaces, and will inspire students and faculty to work across disciplinary boundaries, thus preparing students to be innovative problem-solvers.”
Currently, ten Texas A&M System regional universities and Stephen F. Austin State University offer a combined 25 bachelor’s degree programs in subjects ranging from criminal justice, social work and public administration to biology, health sciences, and computer science.
“We are very excited to mark the opening of our second academic building,” said Admissions Coordinator Dalton Jones. “With dedicated areas for welcoming new and prospective students and fostering relationships with current ones, we are sure that this building will continue to allow students to find a home within RELLIS while they pursue one of our highly competitive programs.”
The A&M System opened the first academic building in this complex in August 2019. The nearly 69,000 square-foot-building includes classrooms, biology labs, faculty offices, study areas and student services offices.
In fall 2019, the Blinn College District opened an 83,000-square-foot facility on the RELLIS Campus. These classrooms and laboratories provide space for an innovative partnership that grants access for students to earn associate degrees or complete lower-division coursework that may be needed for a bachelor’s degree. The proximity to the RELLIS Academic Complex makes this unique collaborative relationship possible, combining a major university system and a community college at a single location.

RELLIS Academic Alliance to Offer Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University on the RELLIS Campus
Stephen F. Austin State University will join the partnership and begin offering completer courses for its Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies early childhood through grade 6 concentration for students interested in the education field. The program, designed to develop future teachers’ knowledge and skills in education with field-based courses that provide real-world experience working with children, was chosen to help fill the significant shortage in certified teachers across the state.
“We are proud to partner with Stephen F. Austin State University to offer an established quality education program to our students at RELLIS,” said Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp. “I have no doubt this program will be an asset to the Academic Alliance and future students.”
With its focus on early childhood and reading education preparation, as well as extensive field experiences, the BSIS with the EC-6 concentration has a strong reputation for developing future teachers’ knowledge and skills in education with courses that provide real-world experience working with children. Additionally, it is the most frequently awarded degree at SFA, which provides the academic breadth of a state university with the personalized attention of a private school.
“As a regional university, SFA has a historically strong reputation for helping to fill the employment needs of the area by providing access to high quality educational opportunities,” said Dr. Judy Abbott, dean of SFA’s James I. Perkins College of Education. “Bringing our showcase degree, the BSIS, to the RELLIS Academic Alliance provides access for Bryan-area students to a well-established and respected educator preparation program. We hope this partnership will help address the shortage of certified teachers for the state’s public schools.”
Additionally, students seeking to enroll in the BSIS completer program may apply for SFA’s Community College Transfer scholarship. This funding opportunity offers students with at least 45 transferable hours from a community college $1,000 per year if the student’s GPA is 3.0 to 3.49, or $2,000 per year if the student’s GPA is above 3.50.
With the addition of the education program, the RELLIS Academic Alliance offers 26 unique academic options from 10 Texas A&M System regional universities and Stephen F. Austin State University. Program options include degrees in a variety of fields, including technology and engineering, business and industry, natural and human sciences, and public service.

RELLIS Academic Alliance to host High School to RELLIS Events
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The RELLIS Academic Alliance is set to host two online information sessions for high school counselors and parents of students interested in attending classes at RELLIS.
The virtual sessions will include a brief overview of the RELLIS Academic Alliance before focusing on available academic degree offerings, the application process and tuition and financial aid. Representatives will also share information on the newly established dual admissions process.
Beginning this fall, high school seniors are able to apply directly to one of the 10 Texas A&M System regional universities offering degree programs at RELLIS, and will be considered members of their fall 2021 freshman class. These students will also apply to the Blinn College District, where they will complete lower-level classwork, prior to enrolling in classes through their university.
“The dual admissions pathway really allows our students to put together a clear route to the degree program they’d like to enroll in, all while completing their basics through Blinn College,” said Admissions Coordinator Dalton Jones. “Once they’ve completed their lower-level coursework they can immediately begin taking classes through their university because they have already been admitted to the program.”
With the addition of seven new bachelor’s degree programs this fall, the RELLIS Academic Alliance is offering 25 unique academic options. Program additions include degrees in water resources, mechanical engineering, agribusiness, social work, electrical engineering and computer information systems.
Last fall, the first building in the Texas A&M University System’s Academic Complex hosted its inaugural class of students enrolled in upper-division programs through an A&M System regional university. The $42 million three-story building features over 40 faculty offices, 10 classrooms, group learning and collaboration spaces, modern allied health teaching laboratories and upper-division science laboratories.
Expected to be opened in January 2021, the second building in the complex will include classrooms and laboratories incorporating state-of-the-art teaching and technology, as well as faculty offices and spaces for student collaboration. Most notably, the 45,000 square-foot-building will provide the needed space for engineering labs and classrooms to facilitate the upcoming academic engineering programs, as well as a student engagement and welcome center.
Both High School to RELLIS events will be hosted online and require registration prior to the event.
- Friday, October 9; 10 to 11 a.m.
- Friday, October 16; 10 to 11 a.m.
Anyone who cannot attend the sessions live can also register to be provided links to recordings after the sessions.
