Office of the RELLIS Academic Alliance Director
The RELLIS staff members are dedicated to assisting students both in and out of the classroom and with any questions they may have about registration, advising and common questions about RELLIS and the Bryan-College Station area.
Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of Special Academic Initiatives, Director of the RELLIS Academic Alliance
Dr. Nelson returned to the Texas A&M System in January 2016 and is primarily responsible for forming and implementing the RELLIS Academic Alliance. Before coming back to the Texas A&M System, Dr. Nelson served as the Dean of Engineering at The University of Texas at Tyler, where he also founded the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Nelson has served at Clemson University and Western Michigan University, as well as working as a design engineer in industry. A significant part of his time in academic administration has been spent forming new academic programs and initiatives.
“Higher education is changing. The RELLIS Campus can become a national model for that change.”
Isaiah joined the team after a six-year tenure as the Director of Academic Advising and Retention at Texas A&M University-Central Texas. Prior to this, he served as a faculty member and Religion Department Chair at Eastern New Mexico University.
“I am excited for the opportunity to help grow the RELLIS Academic Alliance. Working at RELLIS is both an honor and a challenge, and I look forward to being a part of this innovative campus.”
Admissions Coordinator II
Before joining The Texas A&M University System, DaNeetra, a recruiter with experience working with diverse student populations, served as a Senior Regional Advisor for the Texas A&M University Office of Admissions and as a Senior Academic Advisor for the Texas A&M Engineering Academy.

Cleveland Jones, Jr.
Admissions Coordinator I
Cleveland comes to the RELLIS Academic Alliance team from the Texas A&M University Office of Admissions. Jones served as an Admissions Regional Advisor, recruiting and mentoring prospective students from the Brazos Valley region since 2016.
“I believe the programs available through the RELLIS Academic Alliance will open the door of opportunity for many undergraduate and transfer students in both the immediate area and outside of the Brazos Valley region. An educational journey can be filled with roadblocks, and I look forward to helping students navigate them.”
Academic Advisor II
Allyssa comes to the team with experience as an Early College High School specialist, where she assisted dual-enrolled high school students in regard to academic pathways, coursework and goals. While there, she contributed to the increase of first-generation high school students that were college ready and core complete, with some having completed an associate degree in high school.
“I am excited about the many opportunities RELLIS will provide to students in the area. Having worked at a community college, I understand the difficulty that can come along with transferring credits, but RELLIS is making that a seamless process. I am excited to be part of a team dedicated to helping students find attainable pathways to achieve their goals.”
Student Engagement Coordinator
Carlos comes to the team with experience as the Community Director with the Texas A&M University Department of Resident Life, supervising resident advisors and graduate hall directors for three residence halls. These duties included assisting and advising on residence hall programs and activities designed to ensure that students were engaged.
“I believe that student involvement on a college campus develops people in a way that no other place in the world can,” said Pinkerton. “Student involvement allows for the various things that students are learning in class to come to life outside the classroom and I am looking forward to helping to steer that process.”
