BRYAN, Texas — Inaugural class members at the RELLIS Campus are looking toward the future with the establishment of two student engagement programs and a variety of upcoming events.
“Student engagement is a key component to student success,” said Carlos Pinkerton, Student Engagement Coordinator. “Students perform better academically when they have a vested interest in what is happening on campus. We want to create a space where our students not only thrive in the classroom, but outside the classroom as well.”
Among the programs being established is the RELLIS Ambassador Program. The program is designed for students who are interested in representing RELLIS at events like orientation, transfer fairs and other various activities.
The Student Advisory Council, comprised of students enrolled at Blinn College or one of the Texas A&M System regional universities offering academic programs on site, will provide insight to the RELLIS Administration on the opinions and requests of the study body. The eight elected student officials and student representatives from each institution will also provide specialized programs for students at the RELLIS Campus.
Upcoming events at RELLIS include the 2018 G. Russell Kirkland Executive Lecture hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on Nov. 13, 2018. Traditionally hosted each spring at the Corpus Christi campus this event features Captain Steve Banta, Executive Director of the USS Lexington and prior Commanding Officer at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. The inaugural lecture at RELLIS will focus on the Texas A&M University core values of respect, excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity and selfless service.
