Function
The Texas A&M University System George H. W. Bush Combat Development Complex (BCDC), currently under construction at RELLIS Campus, will be an innovation and applied research complex. The BCDC will bring together academic researchers, the military and the private sector as a hub for collaboration, demonstrations and high-tech testing of various national security initiatives. This complex will be a collection of facilities, equipment and instrumentation unmatched anywhere. The complex will include a challenging outdoor proving ground utilizing the preexisting airport runway on-site, indoor collaborative research space with state-of-the-art laboratories, an underground and open-air simulated battlefields, as well as a resilient closed-network of secured sensors and systems for data collection, analysis and storage.
The BCDC will serve as a convener for U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC) by providing many resources, subject matter experts and facilities and hardware/software, as a catalyst of the newest and most innovative ideas for modernizing the Army through required stages of testing and evaluation. The aim of this process at BCDC is to shorten the amount of time between transferring emerging technologies from a laboratory to the field and maximize technological capabilities through soldier feedback.
