Lost and found

We know things can get a little hectic on campus- and sometimes that means stuff gets left behind! To help make sure lost items find their way back to their owners, here’s how our Lost and Found system works.

The main Lost and Found is located at the Office of Student Life in Academic Complex Building 2 in Office 310. You can stop by during regular hours: 8:30 am-4:30 pm. 

1. Please turn it in to the Office of Student Life as soon as you can.

2. Let the staff know where and when you found it, that helps us reunite it with its owner faster.

3. If you’d like, you can leave your name and contact info in case someone has questions.

1. Check with the Office of Student Life stop by, call 979 – 317 – 3438, or send an email to studentlife@rellis.tamus.edu

2. Give us as many details as possible: where you might’ve lost it, what it looks like, and when you last had it.

3. We’ll contact you if we find something that matches your description.

If we have your item:

• Bring a photo ID and be ready to describe it in detail (color, brand, markings, etc.).

• For valuable items (like electronics or jewelry), we may ask for extra proof of ownership — such as a serial number or case description.

To keep things organized, items are only kept for a certain amount of time:

• Perishable items (like food or drinks): thrown away right away

• Everyday items (like clothing, notebooks, or water bottles): held until the end of the semester it is found

• Valuables (like phones, wallets, jewelry, or electronics): held until the end of the academic year

After that time:

• Usable items may be donated to local charities.

• Personal documents (like IDs or bank cards) are returned to the issuing agency or securely destroyed.

• Unclaimed cash is turned over to the RAA’s general fund.

We take your privacy seriously. Personal information found in wallets, IDs, or on devices will never be shared and is handled carefully and securely.

A Quick Note

While the Office of Student Life does everything possible to help reunite items with their owners, the college can’t take responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged property. We encourage everyone to keep valuables with them and label important belongings when possible.
