Overview
The Bachelor of Social Work offers a specialized degree that prepares graduates for entry into direct human service professional positions. With a BSW, the graduate has opportunities for licensure by the State of Texas as a qualified Social Worker. To be licensed as a Social Worker in Texas, you must have a BSW or MSW. No other degree allows for licensure. Our program is hands-on, with community-based learning beginning in the student’s junior year. Students complete a four-semester sequence of courses that result in a finished portfolio that can be used to document their achievement of the competencies, as well as used for evidence in searching for a job.
The BSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), indicating that we meet rigorous standards and undergo periodic reaffirmation processes.
